On Sunday 17th April 2011 Bev and Roger Watson held there annual grape picking day where they ask people from the community and visiting tourists to come and help them pick all the ripe grapes to make their award winning Unavale Wine.
The picking started at 9.30 in the morning and by 4.30 that night they had picked all the grapes.
When everyone arrived back at the bottom house near the vineyards and local band Ratstars played the entertainment for the evening. Bev and Rogers’s son in-law fired up the BBQ and cooked everyone mutton birds caught from the outer islands and wallaby schnitzel, the wallaby came from the local butchery and would have been caught on the island. Bev and Roger also had a keg of beer and wine, free for everyone to enjoy. The fire was lit as a chill come over the air in the afternoon and everyone enjoyed sitting around the roaring fire eating juicy, fat mutton birds and listening to feet taping music.
In all the whole day was fantastic, Roger thanked everyone for their help and gave out free bottles of wine to those who had worked all day picking the grapes.
